Welcome to Hillside Elementary!

Inspiring Potential. Enriching Futures.

Mrs. Mary Fitzgerald
Principal

Hillside School is home to 327 students in Grades Pre-K-4, and 50 staff members each school day.

In an effort to educate the "whole child," our staff has developed new techniques in meeting the special instructional needs of all students while building student self esteem. Pupil motivation, enrichment and appreciation of all cultures and the development of the full potential of critical thinking are areas of concentration for our staff members.

At the Hillside School, in addition to educational programming, emphasis is placed on social growth through community involvement and commitment. Some of the worthwhile projects included, collecting food for a local food bank and Toys for Tots, and contributing to the Ronald McDonald House.

Philadelphia Girls Choir Auditions Coming Here!

Philadelphia Girls Choir Music Director Jeffrey Smith will hold auditions for girls ages seven and older who have not previously auditioned for the Choir at the Hillside School on Thursday, May 28, beginning after school and ending at 5 p.m. Girls interested in joining the Choir's training program will be asked to sing a familiar song and perform a few simple singing exercises. This audition is very informal and will last only a few moments. Those girls selected for a final audition will be notified by mail within the month. These local auditions are open to all girls from the area who meet the above criteria. You need not be a Mount Laurel Schools student.
Permission slips are available here. They should be returned to your child's Mount Laurel School Music Teacher as soon as possible, or completed and e-mailed to Marie Reynolds.

Strobe Lights At All Schools Signal Need To Stay Away

Did you know: That one of the newest security measures at all of Mount Laurel's Schools is a strobe-light system? In the event of a lock-down or lock-out at the school, the strobe lights will be activated to alert everyone to stay away. We will be using the strobe lights for drills as well as actual emergencies. So, if the strobe lights are flashing, stay away. We're either drilling security to keep students and staff safe, or there is an emergency within the school perimeter.

The lighting system is designed not only to alert parents and members of the community, but also our staff members who travel from one building to another, or may have left the building. Once our buildings are in Lockdown or Lockout mode, no one is permitted to enter or exit the facility. All exterior doors are locked. In the past, a staff member who may have gone out for lunch might return and use their secure badge to re-enter the building, unaware that the building was in Lockdown or Lockout. The strobe lights will alert them as well as other visitors who might be placed in harm's way by approaching the school during an actual emergency.

Did You Know You Can Get Connected Affordably?

Over 1 million families have connected to the Internet at home thanks to a Comcast program called Internet Essentials. Eligible families can attain Internet service for $9.95 a month, and may even qualify for a low-cost computer. Even families that have previous unpaid bills with Comcast may qualify for this service. Click here for more information and to fill-out an application.
